Some jewellery is simply worn. Other pieces carry memories, emotions, and movement — like water flowing through your life.
The Swim Ring is a commission that celebrates a lifetime connection to water, family, and personal reflection. It was inspired by one customer’s love of swimming, a practice she describes as meditation and a return to her happiest childhood moments.
A Life Connected to Water
From childhood, swimming was a shared ritual with her father, moments spent in the pool and at the seaside. In the midst of a year of change — retirement and the loss of her mother — she returned to the water, rediscovering it as a source of calm, focus, and mental clarity.
“The first half of the year was so stressful… since I retired I have rediscovered my childhood love of swimming and have been at the pool most mornings improving my stroke, fitness and mental health at the same time. I also dip in the sea every couple of weeks with friends and I realise that as a Cancerian, water means a lot to me.”
From Inspiration to Design
Initially, she loved a stacking Cairn ring design she saw earlier in the year.
After a consultation, however, a new, more personal idea emerged: a single ring capturing the movement and energy of swimming.
“When I put my head to the side to breathe, I see water droplets falling from my hand before it goes into the water, and I think the diamonds could echo that on the ring.”
Using this as the starting point, Christine visualised the arc of water during the front crawl: the hand dips, scoops, and sweeps in motion.
A Ring of Memory and Emotion
The diamonds from four rings she inherited — gifts her father had given to her mother — were repurposed into the final design.
Having a ring she could wear that symbolised the love her parents shared felt extremely special. Rounded diamond “bubbles” appear to float above the central band, which itself is castle-set with diamonds.
The top row holds her mother’s three diamonds from her engagement ring, keeping them together was an important detail the customer requested, while the bottom row alternates different sizes for a natural, organic effect.
“The finished ring is so unique and special — I can feel swimming energy radiating from the movement of the layout of the stones.”
The design blends personal sentiment with movement, creating a wearable story that honours her parents while celebrating her own journey.
Thoughtful Gestures and Joy
When she collected the final ring, Christine and Chrisopher surprised her with a gift inspired by her commission - a bottle of Hampton Water rosé wine as a small thank you.
The customer shared:
“Christine and Christopher, I can’t begin to tell you how much this means to me… I cried emotional and joyful tears when I put the ring on this evening. The ring is the most beautiful thing I have ever owned. Looking at the ring brings up so many feelings and thoughts about my parents and is the most perfect way to honour them.”
And later:
“I’m so glad to have found you, no one else would come close to designing such an incredible ring. You are so talented ❤️”
