At our studio in Ayr, every commission is a different journey. Sometimes a client falls in love with one of our existing collections but wants to add a chapter of their own story to the design. This was exactly the case when we were asked to create a truly one-of-a-kind piece for a client with two great loves: animals and astronomy.
The Spark of Inspiration

The journey began with our signature "Under The Stars" design. Our client loved the celestial theme but wanted to incorporate a pawprint to represent her love for animals. While we could have simply added a single pawprint to the band, we felt this commission deserved something more immersive. I proposed a more playful, unique concept: a trail of pawprints wandering all the way around the ring, as if an animal had just walked across the surface.
From CAD to Craftsmanship
To help our client visualise this whimsical "pawprint trail," we started with a detailed CAD drawing. This allowed us to precisely map out the journey of the footprints and nestle the stars in between the trail.

To make the astronomy aspect even more personal, we added four stars—two large and two small—to specifically represent the two Canis constellations (the "Greater Dog" and "Lesser Dog") requested by the customer. Our customer then saw a computer generated image of what the ring would look like.

The Hand-Finished Details

Unlike generic, machine-made jewellery, the beauty of this piece lies in its organic, hand-finished texture.
- Unique Footprints: Each footprint is slightly different, mimicking the natural variation of a walk over uneven terrain.
- The Contrast: We chose a high-polish finish for the main band, creating a sharp, beautiful contrast against the sandblasted texture of the footprints and stars.
A Piece to be Treasured
There is nothing quite like the moment a customer sees their finished piece for the first time. Seeing this design evolve from a rough idea to a digital drawing, and finally to a highly polished ring, was a "pawsome" experience for us both. Knowing this ring will be worn every day—as a symbol of both the stars above and the loyal companions at home—is why we love what we do.
In Her Own Words
"I've just had the most beautiful ring delivered to me by Christine. The quality is exemplary as is the thought that's gone into it and the overwhelming enjoyment of the experience is absolutely amazing. I can't rate them highly enough. They deserve every star in the Universe."— Nancy Craig
