The Inspiration: From Two Sentimental Rings to One Sleek Design
Our client brought us two beautiful heirloom rings featuring a mix of deep blue sapphires and brilliant diamonds. While she cherished the history behind the rings, the original settings did not fit her lifestyle.
During our design consultation, she decided on a clear vision: she wanted to keep the gorgeous sapphires separate for a future project and focus entirely on using some of the diamonds to create a fresh, fluid, and modern pendant necklace.
The Design Process: Crafting the "Bubble" Pendant
We wanted to create a piece that felt organic yet sophisticated. By grouping the diamonds into polished, white gold bezel settings of varying sizes, we achieved a striking "bubble" effect.
Here is a closer look at how this bespoke piece came together:
- Careful Unsetting: We safely extracted the diamonds from the original inherited bands, ensuring their quality was preserved.
- Modern Metal Choice: Setting the diamonds in crisp white gold instantly modernized the stones, providing a bright, reflective backdrop.
- Cascading Silhouette: The stones were arranged in a vertical, asymmetric cluster. This arrangement catches the light beautifully from every angle.
- Sleek Profile: Crafted to lay flat and smooth against the skin, the side-on profile of the pendant is incredibly low-profile and comfortable for daily wear.
The Final Reveal: Sparkle and Sophistication
The finished necklace perfectly balances contemporary design with deep personal history. Photographed against vibrant blue hydrangea flowers—a subtle nod to the sapphires from the original rings—the bright white gold and sparkling diamonds truly stand out.
When presented in our signature jewellery gift box, the transformation was complete.
Placed on a mannequin to showcase its delicate scale, the pendant adds a sophisticated touch of sparkle to both casual outfits and formal wear.
Our client was absolutely thrilled to see her mother’s diamonds given a second life. In fact, she loved the final piece so much that she has already commissioned a matching pair of bespoke diamond earrings to complete the set!
