Kymbal by Jorge Revilla is a fascinating collection of jewellery. It is inspired by rain drums. Rain drums originated in South East Asia thousands of years ago. They were magnificent round tables that were left outside so that when it rained, the monsoon created music. The tables were often ornately decorated and featured symbols of fertility.
Rain is seductive and life giving. There is even a perfume created to mimic the scent or rain hitting scorched earth. The scent is called Petrichor. When a raindrop lands on an organic surface, air from the pores forms small bubbles, which float to the surface and release aerosols. Such aerosols carry the scent from the soil.
Music and scent are captured in this unique collection of jewellery that has textures on round discs like water bubbles. It is designed to trigger powerful memories of our connection with nature and our ancestors.
The pieces in this collection are handmade in Spain from sterling silver which is gold plated and ruthenium plated. Black ruthenium is a Platinum Group Metal. It is in the same family as platinum and rhodium. It is a rare precious metal with similar characteristics to platinum and rhodium. The combination of black and gold make this collection very attractive and special.
This bangle has a chain at the back that allows it to be adjusted to fit any wrist size and to hold it on securely. It has a 15mm textured disc at the front and a 9mm disc at the end of chain at the back as a beautiful dangling detail. The gold plated bangle is 2.4mm wide.
The internal size of the bangle is 60mm by 60mm at its largest.
As with all gold plated jewellery, it is essential to be extra careful and avoid scratching pieces or getting them wet with perfume, anything acidic, swimming pools or santiser to keep them looking their best.
