This is an incredible lab grown diamond ring. The emerald cut diamond is mesmerising to look at. The photographs don't do it justice so please look at the video to see the incredible sparkle that comes from this diamond.
Emerald cut diamonds are rectangular in shape with the corners cut off. This cut is sometimes called octagonal as there are eight sides when you include the corner cuts. The highest quality of gemstones should be used for this cut as the long facets don't disguise internal flaws. The cutting on a round diamond can hide many flaws but on an emerald cut you can see straight into the stone. An emerald cut diamond gives unique lines of rainbow flashes as the light reflects back from the long straight facets.
Lab grown diamonds are identical to natural diamonds except for the fact that they have been grown instead of mined making them the diamond of choice for people concerned about the impact of mining on the environment. If you are interested in finding out more about lab grown diamonds I have a blog that goes into this in more detail.
This diamond has an unique number lasered on the girdle of the stone that ensures its authenticity. It is certified as the highest colour grade which is D and is VS1 clarity. The reason why the diamond gives off such beautiful rainbow colours is because it has the highest grade of cut in both polish and symmetry. This is a really exceptional gemstone and it would make a breathtaking diamond engagement ring. This diamond weighs 1.74ct and there is a photograph of it on a mannequin to show how this would look on a finger. It's a really large impressive diamond ring.
The ring is made from 950 platinum which is the highest purity of platinum used for jewellery. Platinum is an excellent choice for an engagement ring as it is incredibly strong and is white in colour. White gold needs to be polished and rhodium plated to retain its colour but platinum never tarnishes or turns yellow.
We have kept the design of this ring to a very simple four claw setting with a 2.4mm wide band that looks perfect with this large diamond. The ring has a neat pinch as it reaches the setting that is an elegant detail.
We are able to do this design in a natural diamond and the cost would be around £30,000 to £50,000 depending on the exact diamond selected. We feel lab grown diamonds are outstanding value and teamed with the fact that they are kinder to the planet we believe they are an excellent choice.
