The Inspiration: Shifting Streams and Waterfalls
This unique design took direct inspiration from the Fairy Pools on the Isle of Skye, a place of incredible natural beauty. The Fairy Pools are a series of descending rock basins fed by crystal-clear waterfalls from the rugged Cuillin mountains. Like a mountain stream that pauses on its ancient journey, white rivers of cascading water fill rock pools of shifting sapphire blues and deep forest greens before continuing on.
The Architecture: A Slice of the Mountain
The original custom setting was engineered to lift a magnificent 9.50ct oval-cut sky blue topaz, measuring 12mm by 14mm. The focal gem is gracefully cupped on one side by eleven brilliant-cut, high-clarity G/VS white diamonds, creating an exclusive, copyrighted framework featuring two distinct styles of diamond setting.
The solid 9ct white gold setting is smoothly curved beneath the stones to mirror the organic basin of a natural rock pool. This open architecture leaves the point of the central gemstone fully visible from the side profile, reflecting twinkling blue light onto the polished gold as if a raw slice of the mountain has been exposed for your eyes to dive into. The accent diamonds are held in rubbed-over bubbles that increase in scale as they overflow down the setting. The original piece hangs on a strong, highly durable 40cm white gold filed curb chain.
