Jewellery Inspired by Food — Taste, Memory, and the Moments That Matter

Jewellery Inspired by Food — Taste, Memory, and the Moments That Matter

Food and memory are intertwined in a way that few other things are. The smell of baking, the sparkle of sugar, the ritual of sharing a meal — they anchor us to moments that matter. When I designed jewellery inspired by food, it wasn’t about literal translation; it was about celebrating those warm, joyful memories that connect people across generations.

The Gingerbread Collection — Joy in Every Crumb

My Gingerbread jewellery was inspired by the charming, whimsical paintings of Sarah Jane Szikora.

Each smiling gingerbread man — hanging by one arm from a necklace or skipping playfully with a bangle made to look like a jump rope — is a reminder of the childlike joy that still lives in all of us.

These pieces are lighthearted but incredibly exclusive.

There’s one in New York, bought by a woman for her sister. Another in France, chosen by a woman just outside Paris as a treat for herself. A handful in the UK, each one loved for its originality and spirit.

Afternoon Tea — Remembering Connection

The Afternoon Tea collection was designed to honour those times spent sharing stories over cups of tea and slices of cake.

The Battenberg pieces — with princess-cut gemstones in alternating colours — recall the cakes our grandparents might have served, their pastel squares as much about love as sugar.

The Art of Pleasure — Dessert and Bella Figura

The Dessert Ring was inspired by the beauty and theatre of fine dining — the way a Michelin-starred dessert is plated like a work of art.

Patterns of gemstones trace those decorative flourishes  — a feast for the eyes, designed to delight.

The Bella Figura collection takes inspiration from the shapes of pasta — a culinary tradition created by women and passed down through generations.

Pasta may be humble, but it is also an art form, representing care, creativity, and the quiet genius of those who make beauty from the everyday.

This collection celebrates that legacy — the art of women whose creativity nourished both body and soul.

The Flavour of Memory

All of these designs, in their own ways, are about the emotional power of shared experiences. They remind us that the most unforgettable moments aren’t necessarily the grand ones — they’re the ones that feed our hearts.
Whether it’s a necklace that makes you smile or a ring that recalls a memory of home, these pieces connect us to our past, to each other, and to the sweetness of being alive. In addition to these pieces, you can commission me to design and make a piece inspired by your favourite food memory.

Bonus Christmas Tip:

When you’re giving a gift this Christmas, think about how it connects to a shared memory. Choose something that reminds you both of a happy time — a favourite meal, a place you visited, or something you laughed about. It’s these small, thoughtful details that make gifts truly unforgettable.

Explore our Gingerbread, Afternoon Tea, and Bella Figura collections — jewellery designed to celebrate the flavours of life and the joy of connection. We currenly only have one piece of the Bella Figura collection available but we will be making new designs in the near future. You can see some of the Bella Figura designs that we have sold out of and read the full story of the inspiration behing this collection in my blog.
