A customer commissioned me to make this contemporary ruby and diamond ring in yellow gold.
We sourced several rubies for her to see allowing her the ability to choose a stone that she truely felt drawn to. Viewing loose gemstones is really magical and being part of the creative process is an experience I love sharing with my customers.
Ruby has had a special place in the history of gemstones for centuries. Early cultures treasured rubies for their similarity to the redness of the blood that flowed through their veins, and believed that rubies held the power of life. People in India believed that rubies enabled their owners to live in peace with their enemies. In contemporary culture, it is still associated with wealth, power and success and there's no coincidence that it is the ruby slippers that take Dorothy home to all that she loves.
This beautiful asymmetric ring design has balance and harmony and the yellow gold enhances the warmth of the ruby.
