A New Design for a New Chapter

Turning old jewellery into something new is always a journey of rediscovery. At Christine Sadler Unforgettable Jewellery, every remodelling commission begins with a story — a piece filled with memories, ready to be reimagined for the life its owner is living now.

When a customer came to us with her ring, she wanted to give new life to stones that already carried years of meaning. She loved her sapphire and diamonds but felt ready for a design that was modern and suited her active lifestyle.

When we began the process, she thought her centre stone was an oval sapphire. Once it was unset, we discovered it was actually an octagonal cut — a rectangle with its corners shaped. Hidden under the metal of the old setting, its true form had been disguised.

That moment of discovery changed the direction of the design. We explored a few ways to adapt the original idea to the stone’s real shape — experimenting with different settings and proportions — but in the end, we decided to start fresh.

The final design was a modern ring in white gold, shaped to flow effortlessly with her lifestyle. From the back, it begins as a single band that branches gracefully into two, cradling the stones securely while giving the ring a light, fluid feel. The blue sapphire sits in the centre, channel set between the two arms, with a round diamond on each side — one on the upper band, one on the lower — creating a quiet sense of balance and movement.

What makes our remodelling process so personal is that it isn’t just about the finished piece — it’s about the journey. We check in with our customers at each stage of the design, from the first sketches to the final decision before any metal is worked. That way, the design can evolve naturally as new ideas — and sometimes surprises — emerge.

In this case, the result was more than a new ring. It became a fresh expression of something treasured, reimagined to fit a new chapter of life.
