These sterling silver cufflinks were made by hand for a very special birthday. The two circles were cut by hand from a sheet of sterling silver. The cufflink fittings were then soldered on before both cufflinks was highly polished, again by hand. The outline of the world map was drawn on by hand and then engraved by hand. A lot of time, skill and patience has gone into making these. The final touch was setting a round brilliant cut diamond into one of the cufflinks where the UK is. A hole is drilled by hand and then tiny cutting burrs are used to make a very precise hole to fit the diamond. The diamond is then pushed in, creating a taper lock that holds the stone. A piece of steel is then moved around the edge of the hole to move the silver around the edge of the diamond which sets it. After creating these cufflinks they are then posted to an independent assay office to test the metal to ensure it meets the standards of 925 silver and a hallmark is added.
